Poster

This is the poster I designed for the Ottawa Animation Festival.

I am leaving for Buenos Aires. I'll be back in London in December. I'll try to post from over there but I am not sure how often I'll be able to. Meantime, El Editor has a complete month of
postings to publish in http://okgrillo.blogspot.com/

L'Amour Noir

A tip of the hat to the great John Alton (Johan Altmann), the painter with light who invented almost single handed "le cinema noir". Alton was born in Hungary in 1901, worked in America and in France but moved to Buenos Aires in the early thirties where was a seminal director and cinematographer in the pioneer days of Argentinean sound cinema. Returning to Hollywod, he shot loads of "B" gangster movies, lit with crepuscular, anguishing and magisterial style. He wrote the bible for photographers "Painting With Light" that remains the magnum opus of the genre. Alton died in Santa Monica, USA, in 1996.

Today in Buenos Aires they'll present to the press the murals painted specially for the new underground stations (H line).
My station is Humberto I and is dedicated to the tango pioneer Francisco Canaro. The other stations are painted by Alfredo Sábat, Carlos Nine and Hermenegildo Sábat.
